My current work is a continuation of the landscape element as metaphor theme. I used: the Karoo drinking trough, reservoir; the road and roadsign; clouds; the river; seashore rockpool; the waterfall; the tidal pool and harbour wall, and now wakes, as subject matter.
Reduced to a central motif, condensed and placed in the centre, they should be seen, or rather read as an open metaphor. They should be seen as monuments or elements that act as conduits to an inner landscape. The memories, histories, visions, unexplained stirred emotions and cultural, symbolic or metaphorical suggestions are the outcomes I am after. In that sense, they are doors to be opened, not windows of landscape vistas."
