Prior to studying at Ruth Prowse, Mandy was a teacher of Mathematics and Science at a High School. After many years of teaching she felt the need to explore a creative avenue and to fulfil her dream and passion of making art a career. As a qualified and experienced teacher, Mandy enjoys working with children. She finds the creative buzz and energy of enthusiastic students a stimulus for her own creations.
She loves the outdoors and travels extensively in the countryside for her inspiration. She is an avid hiker and experiences nature first hand, depicting this in her artwork. She uses bold colours and lively brushstrokes to create a vivid portrayal of her subject matter. Acrylics, oils, pastels and mixed media work, serves as a means to capture her energetic painting and drawing style.
From the beaches, harbours, wine lands and mountains to the dusty township roads and city streets, Cape Town has a wealth of inspiration on offer to the discerning eye. This diversity is reflected in Mandy’s many approaches and techniques as well as subject matter.
